I call myself a Strategic Digital Storyteller because, ultimately, after working professionally in digital marketing since 2012, I realized that whether I am creating a Facebook post, a music video, a blog post, or a landing page, I am telling a story. I use the term “strategic”, because ‘how’ I tell the story includes a call-to-action (CTA) – whether explicitly or implicitly – and is informed by my strategic goal, the psychological profile of whom I am targeting, and any data I can leverage to amplify my effectiveness.
I say “digital”, because the story I am telling is all part of a digital marketing funnel. From the perspective of a strategic digital storyteller, every touchpoint of a brand – apps, ads, social media presence, website, emails, press coverage, PR, GIF’s, Reddit threads, etc. – down to the smallest detail, are an opportunity to tell that brand’s story and a potential entry point into a conversion funnel.
